Delectable Delights at the Sterling Renaissance Festival

Sterling, NY, May 2009 - Spirits and feasting abound at the 33rd Annual Sterling Renaissance Festival! For seven consecutive weekends, July 4th through August 16th , you can savor the flavor of the Renaissance period—a plentitude of delightful edibles and thirst-quenching beverages await you!

Though some folks travel to Sterling, NY for the Festival’s renowned entertainment, the fine arts and handcrafts, and the experience of a truly remarkable Renaissance theme festival, some folks come to taste the new sensations whose aroma fill the air throughout the Festival. The Renaissance inspired cooks are sure to tempt any palate with hearty main dishes, such as a robust pound of succulent turkey leg, her Majesty’s steak-on-astake marinated in a secret Renaissance rub, and pork pockets (a gourmet’s delight).

Lighter fare includes a grilled shish-ka-bob, a marinated chicken or beef kabob on a skewer (loved by nobles and peasants alike!) and, new this year, roast beef on Wick. Vegetarian delights also abound! Picked from the royal favorites, one can enjoy a spanikopita, or an Irish gem—ye stuffed spud baked through and served with your choice of toppings! For those who prefer a sit down meal, the Bad Dog Tavern serves up specialty dishes and libations all day long.

For a mouth-watering fantasy, choose among such culinary creations as hot apple dumplings (a desired delicacy for one and all), a cool and refreshing strawberry shortcake featuring freshly baked biscuits topped with sweet strawberries and whipped cream, and the Festival’s one of a kind - mile high cakes, a must see to believe!

If a mid-summer thirst overcomes you, the pub wenches of the Renaissance Festival are on hand to serve you a variety of hearty and mellow drinks. Beverages include light and dark ale, wine, mead, birch beer, lemonade, soda, bottled water, tea and coffee. The Festival Grounds Stay Alive After The Renaissance Festival Ends! Plug in and pipe up at the Sterling Celtic Rock Festival, a weekend of heartpounding live music, authentic food and drink, and unique Celtic crafts, debuts August 22nd and 23rd, the weekend directly following the Sterling Renaissance Festival.
